Opera Paris Bastille is a cultural venue, presenting contemporary opera and ballet shows. Located in the historical location, Place de la Bastille, the Opera Paris Bastille provides a platform for high art performances, to thoroughly entertain audiences. The Sport Hotel, in the 12 arrondissement, is located a 20 minute metro ride away from Opera Paris Bastille.

The programme at the Opera Paris Bastille consists of a variety of opera shows, recitals and ballet performances, delivered by the crème de la crème of Parisian talent. The orchestra, ballet dance troupe and chorus line are all permanent artists at the Opera Paris Bastille. The Opera Paris Bastille is a relatively new venue, being initiated in 1982, as a request from the former President Mitterand, for an opera venue that would deliver more popular and contemporary works, with a much more relaxed and light-hearted tone, compared to l'Opera Garnier programmes. The striking venue, designed by the talented architect Carlos Ott, seats up to 2,700 in the auditorium.
The Opera Paris Bastille was inaugurated in 1989, to mark the Bicentenary of the French Revolution. The location of the Opera Paris Bastille has a rich historic significance. In fact, this location is the very place that saw the beginnings of the French Revolution, on the 14th July 1789.
